Homecoming Parade for Rio Carnival: A Celebration of Color and Joy!

Saturday, October 10 beginning at 10:00 AM

Hi Ottumwa Club Leaders, Team Captains/Coaches, and Community Members,

It’s time to show off your school spirit! Registration is officially open for the 2026-2027 Ottumwa Homecoming Parade. Whether you’re building a float, walking with your club, or driving a vehicle, we want you to be part of the celebration.

Parade Overview:
  • Date: Saturday, October 10th
  • Parade Start Time: 10:00 AM
  • Staging / Check-In Time: 8:30 - 9:45 AM (All entries must be lined up by 9:50 AM)
  • Location / Route: Starts on 2nd St and ends at Knights of Columbus, 123 3rd St
  • Coronation: At the end of the parade at Central Park on the stage

2026 Homecoming Parade Registration Information:

  • Please complete this form with the required information to register your group for the Ottumwa High School 2026 Homecoming Parade on Saturday, October 10. 
  • If there are any questions, please email Brianna Talamantes at brianna.talamantes@ottumwaschools.com.
  • Please have your information submitted on this form by Monday, October 5, 2026.

Day of Parade:
  1. When you arrive, please drive up Union Street and turn onto 2nd Street next to the front steps (all vehicles should face west). First-come, first-served, we will stage floats on both sides of 2nd Street parallel to the high school. Overflow will stage in the student parking lot west of the gym on Center Street.
  2. Please check in with a Student Council member at the table at the bottom of the front stairs. They will then give you your place number to be attached to your vehicle or displayed in the window or carried. You can start lining up at 8:30 am. The parade will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.
  3. The parade will end at Knights of Columbus, 123 3rd St., Ottumwa, IA. Please set up a drop-off location with your group, ideally on 2nd or 4th Street, so you are not stopping on 3rd Street to unload. This will allow us to keep a good pace through the parade route.
