INTRODUCTION TO AGRICULTURE, FOOD, & NATURAL RESOURCES (AFNR): Grade=9-12, Year=2 CR, Prerequisite=None

  • AFNR introduces students to agricultural opportunities and the pathways of study in agriculture. Science, mathematics, reading, and writing components are woven in the context of agriculture and students will use the introductory skills and knowledge developed in this course. Throughout the course are activities to develop and improve employability skills of students through practical applications. Students explore career and post-secondary opportunities in each area of the course. Students are eligible to participate in FFA when enrolled. #                  

ANIMAL SCIENCE: Grade=10-12, Year=2 CR, Prerequisite=None

  • A general program that focuses on the scientific principles that underlie the breeding and husbandry of agricultural animals, and the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural animal products. Includes instruction in the animal sciences, animal husbandry and production, and agricultural and food products processing. Students are eligible to participate in FFA when enrolled. #

AGRIBUSINESS FOUNDATIONS: Grade=10-12, Semester=1 CR, Prerequisite=None

  • Agricultural Business Foundations (ABF) introduces students to business management in agriculture. Mathematics, reading, and writing components are woven in the context of agriculture and students will use the introductory skills and knowledge developed in this course. Students will use skills developed in engaging activities to create their own business plan to solve an issue in the local community. #  

PLANT SCIENCE: Grade=11-12, Year=2 CR, Prerequisite=None

  • Plant Science introduces students to the value of plant production through experiences centered around the study of plant anatomy and physiology, classification, and the fundamentals of production and harvesting. Students will be able to use scientific knowledge and skills to facilitate their learning. Students are eligible to participate in FFA when enrolled. #
