Dear Ottumwa High School Students, Staff, Graduates, and Families,
It is with deep sadness that we share the tragic loss of Ashlin Knuth, a recent graduate of the Ottumwa High School Class of 2026. Our Bulldog family is hurting alongside Ashlin’s classmates, friends, teachers, coaches, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
We know news like this can bring many emotions and affect people in different ways. No one is expected to navigate grief alone, and support is available for any student, graduate, staff member, or family who may need someone to talk to.
If you or someone you know needs support, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Ottumwa High School Counseling Office at 641-683-4444, visit the Brain Health Room at Ottumwa High School, visit the Gateway High School Counseling Office, or email our Family Resource Advocate, Megan Logan, at
megan.logan@ottumwaschools.com. Support is also available 24/7 through
Your Life Iowa by phone, text, or online chat.
Graduated seniors who would like support are encouraged to come to Ottumwa High School during regular school hours. School counselors, administrators, and support staff will be available to provide a safe place for conversation, comfort, and connection.
We encourage families to check in with their students and loved ones, listen with care, and seek support if needed. In moments like these, leaning on one another and staying connected matters deeply. We ask our community to keep the family and all those affected in their thoughts during the difficult days ahead.
Our thoughts are with Ashlin’s family and with all those impacted by this loss.
Sincerely,
Michael McGrory, Superintendent
Shelley Bramschreiber, Ottumwa High School Principal
