Welcoming New and Returning School Board Members

The Ottumwa Community School District is pleased to welcome Brett White to the Ottumwa School Board and to recognize Becky Ingle and Dusty Ware for their continued service to the district. Together with Morgan Brown, Brian Jones, Board Vice President Christina Schark, and Board President David Weilbrenner, they will guide the district’s ongoing work to support student achievement and community growth.

Brett White joins the board as a newly elected member. A lifelong Ottumwa resident, White is a proud parent with a daughter currently enrolled in the district and an actively engaged member of the Ottumwa community. He holds a degree in Accounting and Business Management and works as a Senior Accountant at Davis & Lewis, bringing strong financial and organizational experience to the board.

White has also officiated Iowa high school athletics for more than 20 years, including being selected for the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament and multiple postseason football crews. He has officiated numerous lower-level Ottumwa games over the years, supporting local student-athletes.

“I am humbled and honored to serve the families of Ottumwa,” White said. “Our district has incredible students, talented educators, and strong momentum. I look forward to listening, learning, and working together to continue building a school system our community can be proud of — today and for years to come.”

Dusty Ware, who has served as an interim board member since July 2025, will now continue his service in an official capacity. Becky Ingle, an incumbent, will continue her dedicated work on behalf of Ottumwa students and families. Ingle has served on the board since November 2021.

The district extends its heartfelt gratitude to Jan Wetrich for her four years of service on the Board of Education. During her time on the board, Jan helped guide significant progress, including building safety improvements, facility upgrades, curriculum integration, and our Be The Best strategic plan, all focused on creating more and better opportunities for kids. Her commitment and contributions have helped strengthen our schools and support the success of all students.
