Walk-ins Welcome

Senior, Justin Ockenfels who will be attending Iowa State University for Mechanical Engineering has been asked to introduce our guest speaker from John Deere.

Participating businesses/organizations include:

  • Cambridge Investment Research - Middle school to high school students work through a simulation that shows the value of starting retirement early. Elementary students learn the value of saving money to help them achieve bigger goals.
  • East Penn Manufacturing - Students complete a timed battery game - how quickly you can correctly put the positive and negative plates into a battery case. Learn the different parts of building an Automotive battery.
  • Indian Hills Community College (IHCC)
  • IHCC Admissions - There's no better time to plan for the future than TODAY! Stop by and talk to an IHCC Admissions Representative and get your free school bling!
  • IHCC Aviation - Build a paper electric helicopter.
  • IHCC Laser and Optics Technology - Experience the power of lasers through a light show, and see how they can be used to pop balloons.
  • IHCC Maintenance Technology - Explore how hydraulics and basic electric circuits work.
  • IHCC Software Development - Try your hand with a coding activity, learn what coding professionals do, and challenge yourself with a second coding activity.
  • Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation - Students will be able to identify where all the different pizza toppings come from. They will also be able to make and eat their own 'mini pizza'.
  • Iowa Public Broadcast System (PBS) - Explore and discover the challenges of Pattern Blocks. This activity reinforces shape identification, practices spatial awareness, and easily adapts to all ages.
  • Iowa State University
  • Iowa State University Extension & Outreach 4-H - 3D Printers are being used more and more in our everyday lives, from small hobbyists to big industrial factories. See hands-on examples of some of the different things that can be done with a 3D Printer.
  • John Deere Ottumwa Works
  • LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) 377 - Kids will follow instructions to cut and fold a paper airplane. Then they will stand behind a line to see how far it flies. | Students will build pom pom launchers using a paper cup and a balloon. Then, they'll launch the pom pom to see how far it'll go.
  • Mathnasium
  • Ottumwa High School Applied Technology - Test your welding skills with our virtual reality welder. Then, try your hand at laser engraving and take your final products home with you.
  • River Hills Community Health Center
  • Science Center of Iowa - Robotics and technology are useful in our lives by making things easier, safer, more efficient, and entertaining. Learning how to use these devices to accomplish different tasks is an important employability skill. Learn about ways that computer science can lead to different careers.
  • Submarine Veterans of Iowa - Submarine buoyancy model helping students understand how a submarine operates.
  • William Penn University Engineering and Technology Club - How many pennies can you float in water? We'll explore the concepts of density and buoyancy by using copper pennies and aluminum foil to see what will float individually and then design combinations that will float both.
  • William Penn Univesity Engineering and Technology Club - How do boats float? Learn how massive steel structures stay afloat by building an aluminum boat.
There will be a free taco dinner from Mimi’s.
